Who am I?

A little history of me

I was born in Duisburg, a town in a highly industrialized part of Nordrhein-Westfahlen called the Ruhrpott. Duisburg once was dominated by steel production. My father worked in the coal-mines. He died when I was nine. My stepfather came into my life. He worked  as a fitter for Thyssen (later Thyssen-Krupp).

I grew up in a part of Duisburg populated by many guest workers, called Duisburg-Marxloh.

After school I wanted to study medicine and since my school notes in combination with a test were not enough to get me access to a university, I started an apprenticeship in an insurance company in Düsseldorf.

Since I did not really want to work in that field, I passed four months in the United States working for the Catholic Worker. The CW offers shelter for homeless people not using drugs, offering them an address and thus the chance of getting a bank account and getting back into a job. I enjoyed my trip and the work for the CW a lot.

So I decided to either study social work or psychology when I got back to Germany, got the offer for studying both and decided to study Psychology in Bochum.

I enjoyed that a lot, since there was nothing  I learned, that was not interesting. The only problem with Psychology is that everything I learned from psychological diagnosises or Personality Disorders I found in me, in my psyche. Thank god, I did not study medicine.

During my studies I specialized in Neuropsychology and started working in Bad (bath) Liebenstein and Bad Wildungen, where I met my wife. I specialized in Behavioural Psychology back in Bochum and during that specialization I worked in a private school for Psychologists to help them in their specialization, worked in a school for linguistic and occupational therapists and for the youth welfare office.

After my first child was born (I have two daughters) I wanted to have one job and more time for the family and worked in a forensical clinic for three years before working in the field of addictions since 2012. A professor once told me that I should fit into my specialization and my work and since the majority of patients in a forensical clinic or in a clinic where we treat addicted patients are male, I think that I can deliver my best work in this field.

What I plan for the future

By chance I discovered that the domain Addiction Awareness was still free in Germany. And so I started this "project".

Since I never created a website I am still experimenting with it. I will invest a lot more time, so that  my footprint in the www is ethical and aesthetical.

With the help of some people I want to raise the Awareness of Addiction.
